animation

While in between jobs, I decided to enroll myself in FIT’s Motion Graphic Certificate program to learn Adobe After Effects. It was the best self-investment I’ve made in my career. In this course, I learned about the basics, tools, and design principles to create 2D animations. My learnings resulted in these three animation projects. After Effects was a fun program to learn and has unlocked another door for me to expand my creativity.

personal Logo

This is an animation of my personal logo. I used the dot of the ‘i’ as the star of the piece to spell out my beloved nickname.

HOW TO MAKE A GREETING CARD

I love making handmade cards for all occasions, especially the holidays. This piece was an informational animation about how to make them. I wanted to highlight some of my design steps to make a personalized card. I used the names of my instructor and other classmates and created all the design elements in Illustrator. To tie it to the holidays, I used “This Christmas” by Donny Hathaway as my background music. It’s one of my favorite Christmas songs.

ABSTRACT - CIRCLE AND SQUARE

The first project of my After Effects course was to create an abstract animation. At first, I wasn’t sure of where to begin. However, when I placed the circle and square into my composition, the interaction between the shapes began to blossom. I’ve shown this piece to close friends and was told that it reminded them of a 90s show because of the color palette…like the opening credits of Martin Lawrence’s show Martin. I think that’s a huge compliment since that was such an iconic show.
